The Prospect Park Democrats are members of the Interboro Democratic Committee, together with Glenolden and Tinicum. We are a group of local volunteers working to make Prospect Park a stronger, more connected community. Prospect Park Democrats bring together neighbors who care about serving our community through active civic engagement and responsive leadership. We work to support local candidates, empower voters, and promote policies that reflect the needs and voices of our community.
Elected Officials
Councilman Paul K. Johnson
Paul K. Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Marketing and Management at Montgomery County Community College. He earned a BS in Business Administration, a MBA, and a Digital Marketing Certificate - all from Drexel University. He served as a long-time member and now as an emeritus member of the Drexel University Alumni Board of Governors. Prior to collegiate teaching, Paul had a successful career in corporate sales winning local, regional, and national awards.
Paul serves as a volunteer and board member for several organizations throughout the Delaware Valley including entering his 36th season coaching youth baseball. He was a former member and president of the Prospect Park Recreation Board and the Prospect Park Youth Club (Nick Saravo Memorial Award recipient in 2019). Paul is chair of the Delaware County Interactive Gaming Revenue Authority where he helps to distribute grants to non-profit and first responders. He successfully advocated for grants to the Prospect Park Fire Department and non-profit organizations benefiting residents in Prospect Park and the Interboro School District. He was also appointed to the Delaware County Authority early in 2023.. Paul founded and organizes the MLK Day of Service in Prospect Park events including its Food Donation Drive and Community Reading. He responded to the call and stepped up to serve as a fill-in school crossing guard in Prospect Park as needed in 2023.
In addition to baseball, Paul loves other sports and volunteers as an assistant volunteer flag football coach with Special Olympics-Delaware County, PA/DE state commissioner of Metropolitan Junior Baseball League, and is former member of the Valley Forge Sports Advisory Board. He serves as board chair of Affordable Housing Centers of Pennsylvania, former board vice-chair of Rock to the Future, and is an elected committee representative of the MCCC Faculty Union Local #4272 part of the American Federation of Teachers labor union. Paul was appointed and then later elected as a committee member in Prospect Park. On his third campaign for Prospect Park Borough Council, Paul finally won on November 7, 2023.
Paul’s achievements as a Prospect Park Councilman include establishing monthly office hours to increase communication with residents; repairing or replacing many of our park benches and bleachers; installed LED lights at Moore’s Lake building; introduced Anti Hate Resolution and Women’s History Month Resolution; acknowledged Pride Month and the Proclamation of Juneteenth; planted over 180 tree & shrub saplings at Witmer, Park Square, and Moore’s Lake; opened pickleball courts; and installed security cameras at our parks.
Meet the 2025 Candidates
Lauren Silva (Borough Council 2 Year Midterm Write-In)
Lauren is a wife, mother, and devoted dog mama who has called Prospect Park home since 2020. Lauren's professional journey began as a collegiate field hockey coach and personal trainer, and her passion for physical and mental well-being remains foundational in her personal life. In recent years, Lauren has expanded her expertise through project management roles in construction and IT. As a dedicated advocate, Lauren is eager to bring her energy and teamwork-driven approach to the Borough Council, ensuring that Prospect Park continues to be an inviting and forward-thinking community.
Joseph Zabczynski (Borough Council)
Joseph is a U.S. Army Veteran, small business owner, and dedicated volunteer in our community. He is earning his masters degree in Agribusiness Management from Delaware Valley University and founded his beekeeping company to support pollinators in suburban environments. Joseph serves Prospect Park as a Penn State extension Master Gardener and a Cornell certified Master Beekeeper. He volunteers at local VFWs, animal shelters, and with the ACLU-PA. Joseph enjoys spending his free time exploring Delaware County's many trails with his dog, Happy.
Jonathon Vattima (Borough Council)
Jonathon is an IT professional for the County of Delaware and a lifelong resident of Prospect Park. While employed in the Elections Bureau and Treasury Department, he served as a union shop steward for AFSCME Union Local 13. He is currently finishing a degree in Network Administration and Cyber Security at Delaware County Community College with honors. Jonathan believes that volunteering and being involved is just one part of making this borough better for everyone. Jonathon is running for Council to help make the parks safer, the streets cleaner, our residents happier, and to represent each and every person in our great community.
Ashley Deihl (Borough Council)
Ashley is a Staff Auditor at Meridian Bank, a mother of two, and a volunteer member of the Prospect Park Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She is a graduate of West Chester University with a Bachelors in Education. Ashley is an experienced Operations Officer with a strong background in the banking industry.
Dr. Ellen ME Wedemeyer (Borough Council)
Ellen is a consultant, trainer, author and online learning facilitator for Harvard University. She holds a Certificate in Advanced Educational Leadership from Harvard, a Doctorate in Education from Immaculata University, an MBA from St. Joseph's University, and a Masters Degree in Music from Indiana University. She is Chief Innovation Officer at People for People Charter School, and formerly served as Assistant Superintendent for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She is a published author and a board certified music therapist, specializing in working with Veterans of the Special Forces living with PTSD.
Rebecca “Bex” Kerrigan (1st Precinct Elections Inspector)
Rebecca is a dedicated community advocate, mother, wife, artist, and realtor. With a background in art therapy, Rebecca earned her Master of Art from Marywood University in 2019, fostering a career built on empathy, problem-solving, and creativity. She brings these values to her leadership, fighting for policies that strengthen families, expand opportunities, and support a thriving, inclusive community.
